About: my switch to DIY
I'm a first-year pool owner. This site is my notebook for replacing a pool service with gear, testing, and a weekly routine, with real prices and no hype.
TODO (Jonathan): your first name, the city or climate you're in, and your pool type (in-ground or above-ground, size in gallons, surface, filter type, sanitizer).
Why I'm doing this
Pool service runs about $150–300 a month with chemicals included (source). I wanted to know how much of that work gear can really take over, what it costs, and what I'd still have to do myself.
TODO (Jonathan): whether you had a service, roughly what you paid, and what made you want to switch.
My setup so far
TODO (Jonathan): the robot you bought and what you'd choose differently, how you test (strips, drop kit, pool store), and what you use for chlorine.
What I've learned (so far)
TODO (Jonathan): 3–5 honest lessons, such as algae, store water tests, or the robot choice. Only real experiences. Leave this out until you have them.
